Ms. Anderson was in Brooklyn to play the role of a lifetime for any actress — Blanche DuBois in the Young Vic production of A Streetcar Named Desire. She was divine. She told the Guardian of the role, “Holding the character alive … left me in a vulnerable state. Going into a corner shop to buy milk when you are Blanche DuBois is hard. I felt like all the layers of my skin had come off. You need to immerse yourself in a mental state to make the character truthful on stage and I don’t think I have ever immersed myself so deeply.”
